I am taking a class to pass the test Fundamentals I. I want to know more about the password file. For example, if I startup the database after moving the password file from its proper location, I get an error, and the database does not start up. Where does Oracle store the path for that file so it knows where to look for it? I cannot find the path in the init.ora file, so I suppose it must be stored in the control file. Is there a dynamic performance view that will show me the contents of the control file, including the paths to datafiles and the password file (assuming this is where this path is kept)?
Also, while we are on the subject, what query will produce a list of all available dynamic perfomance views (V$ views)?
